Dating back up to 70 years when Rottnest Island was an indigenous prison to detailing the 2500 military personnel that set up on the island to protect Fremantle Harbour from Japanese Naval invasion in the 1940s. The museum is run solely by friendly volunteers who are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Despite its small size, the museum is boasting with information on the impressive history. It gives visitors another view of the island and educates them on its challenging yet fascinating past. Entry into the museum is by a gold coin donation.
